Sky Paintings

One of the benefits of living less than a mile from one of the Great Lakes is the immense vista available so close by.  Whenever I feel the urge to take a break from still life painting, I like to go up to my local beach and take in the expansive view.  From there, it’s almost sixty miles to the Canadian mainland, with nothing but open water and sky on three-quarters of the horizon.  It’s particularly dazzling to watch a storm pass through and this has provided the inspiration for the paintings here.
